Mike was getting married today and was (understandably) nervous.  His best man and childhood friend, Brandon, wasn’t being much help.

“What are you doing, dude?  You’re only 24 years old!  You’ve got a lot of living left in you.  Why are you settling?” Brandon rambled to his half asleep friend.  Mike dismissed him with his hand.  “I don’t know why you don’t like Bertha.  She’s never done anything to you.”

Brandon nodded but knew it was not what she had done to him, but what she was going to do to his best friend after the ceremony today.  “I’m just worried that your life as a male will be come to an end after she legally has her claws in you.”  Mike gave a dismissive laugh, though he knew there was a lot of truth to his friend’s words.  Bertha could be possessive at times and didn’t really like Brandon’s relationship views, to put it mildly.  “Have some faith in me!” 

“Right…” Brandon answered as he walked into the bathroom.  As he held his gaze in the mirror he proudly cooed, “I’m going to look real good for all the ladies at the wedding!”  He shut the door and Mike’s apartment was finally quiet again.  Mike leaned back on his sofa until he heard Brandon yelling from the shower.  “Dude, your shower’s busted.  There’s barely a trickle of water coming out of the shower head.  Know any good plumbers?” he laughed.

“Oh, man!  I gave it a quick fix before and it figures that it breaks again on the day of my wedding!” Mike yelled back.  “I guess I’ll text Carl about it.”  Brandon poked his head out of the bathroom and said, “Some might consider busted plumbing a bad omen considering what today is… And who the heck is Carl?”

“Oh, he’s my plumber.  He’s the best- I’ve got his app on my phone.  I’ll shoot a text to him from his app and see when he can get over here.”

“You’ve got a plumber’s app on your phone?  Seriously?” Brandon mockingly teased.

“When you’ve got destructive friends, it’s all about being prepared!” Mike laughed.

“I hope you’ve got your lawyer’s app there too so you can get this thing annulled in the next few days…”  Brandon quickly quipped.

“Yeah, David’s in here somewhere…”
